Together For The Gospel has realesed the recorded worship sessions from T4G 08. The two T4G conferences continue to be my two most cherished worship experiences ever. I know that the experience was not just the worship, but the combination of the rich teaching and preaching that occured with the singing of God’s praise. For that reason, some may find this CD to be plain jane hymns that don’t exactly move the soul. For me, it is a reminder of what 5,000 passionate God followers sounds like in this life, and provides an faint echo of what eternity will be like.
C.S. Lewis would put it like this:
The books or the music in which we thought the beauty was located will betray us if we trust in them; it was not in them, it only came through them, and what came through them was longing. These things – the beauty, the memory of our past – are good images of what we really desire; but if they are mistaken for the thing itself, they turn into dumb idols, breaking the hearts of their worshipers. For they are not the thing itself; they are only the scent of a flower we have not found, the echo of a tune we have not heard, news from a country we have never visited.
I long for the Day when He returns. Till then, I will enjoy the scent and the echo of that day in the remembered experience of this conference and the worship we enjoyed there.
