I read this article in the Wall Street Journal before Christmas and really wanted to post the link to it, but unfortunately never found the time to do so. As it is, that’s probably a good thing.
I don’t get asked often about the propriety of or Biblical implications of allowing our (Christian) kids to engage the notion of Santa Claus at Christmas and for that, I’m thankful. I do know some people in my flock hold convictions one way or another on the subject, but it’s never been a source of conflict between the various sides. For that I’m also thankful as that approach is truly Biblical.
Our personal practice as parents more closely mirrors the approach alluded to in this article. Take a couple of minutes to read it thoughtfully, and if so inclined, leave a comment as to your response to the author’s points.
