In October of 2007 I ruptured my Achilles tendon in my left foot, and spent six weeks in a series of casts to help the tendon repair itself. That immobilization of my leg led to a DVT (read: huge blood clot in my leg) which led to a Saddle Pulmonary Embolism (read: massive blood clot in my lungs). Both conditions lead to more sudden deaths in Americans each year than AIDS, breast cancer, and auto accidents combined. Several doctors and nurses expressed amazement that I was still alive as I laid in the hospital for 8 days.
In the days ahead, I hope to convey some of what God has done in, through and around me through this season of trial to encourage me in His Sovereign care and purpose for my life.
