This past week, Julie and I were blessed by some folks with a week at Hilton Head Beach. We absolutely love the beach and God gave us a great week with weather in the mid 70’s with no wind. Amazing. I went walking one afternoon as the tide was going out, looking for shells and other “sea stuff” that had washed up. Desiring to find something cool, I asked God for a cool shell that was not broken that I could decorate my office with.
As I took a few more steps I looked up and out across the sea/landscape and became overwhelmed by the beauty of His creation that is the ocean, the beach, the shells, the palms, the serenity of waves rolling in, the warmth of sun on my skin and broke out into a prayer of praise. As I was walking and praising, a shell half sticking up from the sand caught my eye. I reached down and dug up a conch shell, complete and unbroken with beautiful colors striping it. I was overwhelmed again. Overwhelmed not at His answering my prayer for a really small and insignificant thing; a shell. But overwhelmed at the love and care and concern that My Father demonstrated to me , a small and insignificant child.
There is nothing better in the world than knowing, feeling, sensing and experiencing the love of God Almighty, the love of God the Father, the love of Christ our Savior. Walk with Him. Talk with Him. With thanksgiving, make your requests known to Him. And may He overwhelm you today with His love, demonstrated in the smallest of things.
