As I downed my morning pot of Starbucks and perused my Newsgator subscriptions, I came across a post that immediately jumped off the page at me. Have You Heard of Wendy Alsup? Well, yes I have heard of her. In fact I know her and her husband, having attended the church that she speaks of in the interview with Adrian Warnock.
What a great article/interview, and what a great testimony as to the ministry of women in the church and in the home as a wife and mother. I was so encouraged by this interview and I will be in serious prayer that God would raise up such women at Redeemer for similar ministry to our body and to our community. Though she labors primarily as a deacon in charge of women’s theological training (thus primarily dealing with women in the church), I can assure you that her ministry is one of encouragement and edification to the entire body, men and women alike from lay person straight up to Mark Driscoll himself.
I absolutely love the unabashedly overt love for Christ, His Word and His mission, and the freedom with which they pursue Him/it out there at Mars Hill. Count me as one who is immensely thankful for Mark Driscoll. For his passion and leadership within the Kingdom of God on earth and for the evident quality of Kingdom disciples that are being produced in a godless city such as Seattle where “there are more dogs than professing Christians”.

I count Wendy as a dear friend. Even though I have not yet visited Mars Hill, my opinion of anything that Wendy loves is at least ameliorated because of its connection with Wendy. She is a genuine believer (she lives what she says she believes), and I have learned about Jesus not just from her mouth but from watching her life.
joy, i agree that wendy is a tremendous light for Christ and am thankful to have known her what little i did before we left for the presbyterian church and they left for seattle.
